Wiveliscombe and 10 Parishes Business Showcase 2016 – Report

The event on the 25th June, including the Showcase of local businesses, went well, with good feedback at the change of venue, event organisation and running it alongside the Farmers Market. Footfall and signage on the day could have been better.

We are grateful to all local businesses who took part and hope to build on this for next year.

Particular thanks go to Katie Vennor of Tracebridge Sourdough and the Community Centre for her work on the event.

At Cotleigh Brewery Ford Road, Wiveliscombe, TA4 2RE

We have a special day planned for the 18th February at Cotleigh Brewery – a unique chance to meet many support agencies and funders under one roof in Wivey from 2pm, with our Networking Event starting at 5.30pm.

Between 2 and 5pm, you can access a wide range of support and advice from;

The second edition of our Business Funding Guide will be also be launched at the event at 2pm.

The Networking Event starts at 5.30pm, where you can hear about our exciting plans for the Showcase in June (more on this below) and a new Food, Drink & Hospitality leaflet, and how two local businesses are working together after meeting again at last year’s Showcase. Blake Fewster’s bespoke kitchen business is working with Paul Tam’s Sound and Vision home entertainments business on high-end projects for London clients.

You can also conveniently sign up for Membership and for the Showcase at the event – so bring your chequebook.

Entry is free – paid bar will be available. The event will finish around 7pm.

Book your stall for Showcase 2016

We’re pleased to announce that you can now book your stall at our main business promotion and networking event, the Showcase on 25th June.

Space is prioritised for 10pbg members with stalls costing just £20 for members, but there is limited space and it’s first come, first served, so book you place soon or you could miss out.

Showcase Date announced for 2015 – Saturday 25 April – register your interest now!

“Showcase on Wiveliscombe and 10 Parishes“ was held on Saturday 26 April at Kingsmead and highlighted the diverse range of thriving businesses in our area.

Over 40 local businesses packed the Sports Hall for a great day of displays and demonstrations – appealing to the public and other businesses alike.

The very first Showcase provided a great opportunity to discover some of the more unusual businesses hidden within our area, as well as your favourites.

Exhibitors included every kind of business, from artistic illustrators, photographers, jewellery and even mapping… to local sawmills, engineers, building supplies and electrical services.

From therapists, fitness, dance and health products to care and products for the elderly – and not forgetting your pets.

From housebuilders, estate agents and solicitors to biomass energy. From websites to newspapers, plus local business support, apprenticeships and courses, along with WAP and In the Mix. There was something for everyone.

The entertainments included very popular professional cookery demos and valuations by Antiques Roadshow expert Christopher Hampton.

Local musicians including Johnny Mars, Jon Maybey, Reuben Katz and friends on piano, plus Fodo and Louise Toomer provided some wonderful music – and a great background for a spot of business networking too.

Plus there was delicious local food and drink to sample – including both our local breweries, Cotleigh and Exmoor.

Showcase was kindly sponsored by Porter Dodson solicitors and Taunton Deane Borough Council.

Many thanks to everyone who supported us, Exhibitors, Sponsors, entertainers, the fabulous team from the Zambia exchange scheme at Kingsmead, who provided teas coffees and cake – and who also helped with all the setting up.

Plus of course, the members of our Marketing subgroup who worked tirelessly to organise the event.
